On the other hand, domestic companies such as China CNR, CSR and Chengdu Xinzhu Corporation have manufactured modern trams in China through independent R&D, buying out intellectual property rights and co-operative R&D respectively, and have been actively exploring the modern tram market in China and even globally. At present, all domestic car manufacturers have exhibited their modern tram prototypes or models through domestic rail transport exhibitions or industry conferences, and at the same time, they have introduced comprehensive technical solutions for trams to the market. Changchun Railway Coach: Self-developed and operated in Hunan

China North Locomotive Changchun Railway Coach Company Limited ("Changke") is an early developer of modern trams in China, and its self-developed low-floor modern trams have been successfully operated in August 2013 in Hunnan New District of Shenyang, including 70% low-floor vehicles and 100% low-floor vehicles. In May 2013, Changke built a "manufacturing and repair base" in Hefei Hi-Tech Zone to develop, design and manufacture urban rail vehicles, intercity rail vehicles, modern trams, low-floor light rail vehicles and other products. It is learnt that Changke will also build a modern tram production base in Shanghai. Longbus is also expected to obtain orders for modern tram projects in Shanghai and Zhengzhou.

Dalian Locomotive: Ground Power Supply "Braidless" Operation

In October 2012, Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. of CSR Group (Dalian Locomotive for short) signed a technology introduction cooperation agreement with Ansaldo Breda of Italy, introducing the "braidless" modern tram and ground power supply system technology, which is popular in Europe, to China for the first time. Dalian Locomotive signed the technology introduction cooperation agreement with Ansaldo Barreda of Italy. In March 2012, Dalian Locomotive started the construction of the first domestic production base of modern tram and ground power supply system in Zhuhai, which will be put into production in 2014 with a localisation rate of over 80%. Currently, Dalian Locomotive is constructing Zhuhai modern tram line 1 project in BT mode. in September 2013, Dalian Locomotive won the bidding of Beijing Xijiao Line modern tram vehicle procurement project, which will provide 31 100% low-floor modern trams for Xijiao Line. And Dalian Locomotive will also build a modern tram for the city of Dalian in May 2014 to run on the streets of Dalian first.

CSR Tangshan Railway Coach: International Design and Export to Overseas

The modern trams of China CNR Tangshan Railway Coach Co., Ltd ("CNR Tangshan") are jointly designed with LOGOMOTIVE, and CNR Tangshan owns completely independent intellectual property rights on the technologies including bogies. 2010, CNR Tangshan invested and took a controlling stake in Quanzhou, Fujian Province to set up CNR Quanzhou Company to manufacture modern trams, and agreed with Quanzhou City to build modern tram lines in Quanzhou City in BT mode. In December 2012, it signed a procurement contract for 100% low-floor trams for the city of Samsun, Turkey, and the first train was shipped to Turkey on 29 November 2013 by air.
